Starting position
Adjust the seat so the handles line up with the top of your chest, then sit back against the reclined pad with chest up and shoulder blades retracted.
Grip the handles and press them up and away until your arms are straight without locking hard.
Pause briefly at the top.
Lower under control until the handles are back beside the upper chest.
Keep your back and head against the pad throughout.
Breathing: Exhale as you press, inhale on the return.
Coaching tips
Shoulders down and back
Press up and away
Smooth tempo
Common mistakes
Seat set so the handles start above the shoulders
Shrugging toward the ears as you press
Arching off the back pad to finish reps
Safety notes
Set the seat height before loading; a start position above the shoulders strains the joint.
