How to perform

Sled Overhead Triceps Extension movement

Main muscles working (thicker lines)

Starting position

Attach two handles to a loaded sled with a rope or strap, face away from it and step forward until the line is tight, hands together overhead and elbows bent pointing up.

  1. 1

Stagger the feet and brace the trunk.

  2. 2

Extend the elbows to drive the hands forward and up, dragging the sled.

  3. 3

Finish with the arms straight overhead.

  4. 4

Bend the elbows back and step forward to take up the slack before the next rep.

Breathing: Exhale as you extend, inhale as you reset.

Coaching tips

  • Elbows stay high

  • Upper arms still

  • Step to reset tension

Common mistakes

  • Pulling with the whole body instead of the elbows

  • Arching the lower back

  • Letting the elbows drop forward

Safety notes

  • Use a surface where the sled slides smoothly and nobody walks behind it.
