Spell Caster movement

Main muscles working (thicker lines)

Starting position

Stand with feet wide and knees soft, holding a light dumbbell in each hand with both weights beside one hip.

  1. 1

Brace your abs and keep your chest up.

  2. 2

Rotate your torso and sweep both dumbbells across your body and up to the opposite side at about shoulder height, arms straight.

  3. 3

Pivot your back foot as you turn so your lower back doesn't twist.

  4. 4

Sweep back down to the starting hip and repeat; switch sides after the set.

Breathing: Exhale as you sweep across, inhale as you return.

Coaching tips

  • Turn from the trunk

  • Arms long, weights level

  • Pivot the back foot

Common mistakes

  • Swinging heavy weights with momentum

  • Bending the arms

  • Keeping the feet locked so the lower back takes the twist

Safety notes

  • Use light dumbbells and a controlled tempo.
